Harvard Model United Nations (HMUN) China is a four-day international relations simulation for high school students held annually in Beijing. Nearly 1,000 delegates and 100 faculty advisors from around the world attend this conference to confront and debate issues of international importance. Our school was one of only two participants from Heilongjiang province who attended the conference.
Throughout four days of conference, students had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of participants from around the world. They cooperated with each other, debated about complex global issues and drafted resolutions in response to other delegates. The experience pushed the students to utilize their communication skills and collaborative problem-solving ability to its limit by forcing them outside of their comfort zone.
Even though it was the school’s first time participating in this international competition, at the end of the conference, two of our students were recognized and awarded the prize of “Outstanding Delegate”. More importantly, all participating students gained a valuable experience and a global mindset through their efforts at HMUN.
