SIA (Seven-power Intensive
Academy)
SIA is an essential foundational course designed for first-year students in order to successfully adjust to studying and living in Wanbang. Students learn each subject in his or her corresponding grade, and undergo systematic education and training, including detox education, community training, projects, special lectures, and mentoring to improve their seven powers in a balanced manner. The SIA course is for foreign students (Korea, USA, Canada, etc.). The SIA course is academically accredited and is conducted over two semesters. If the SIA course grades do not meet the standard, the SIA course may be retaken.
Academic curriculum
- Chinese (汉语)
- - CSL (Chinese as a Second Language) Chinese course
- - Chinese Reading, Chinese Grammar, Chinese Conversation, Chinese Writing
- - Concentrates on basic Chinese grammar, daily conversation, and writing.
- - Experience Chinese culture through various activities.
- - Develops Chinese skills to participate in formal/regular courses taught in Chinese.
- English
- - ELA Curriculum (Classes divided by student’s age and English skills)
- - Taught by native English speaking teachers who will help students thrive in an all English
environment during class. The students will not only learn the fundamentals of English
(grammar, literature, vocabulary, etc.) but also find familiarity with English to use it as
a tool in their future.
- Math
- - Courses are organized according to the level of each grade. Although the Chinese math course is similar to the Korean math course, the learning sequence and content may be slightly different, and the grade level may change accordingly.
- - Lectures are conducted in English or Chinese depending on the level.
- Arts and physical education
- - Soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, etc.
- - Choir, orchestra, art, etc.
- Weekend Electives
- - Music Electives: orchestra, guitar, keyboard, drums, etc.
- - Physical Education Electives: American football, badminton, basketball, soccer, yoga, volleyball, etc.
- - Art Electives: poster and prop making, photography, video shooting, etc.
- - Language Electives: English Drama, Debate, HMUN, etc.
- - Science/Social electives: Science Research, Social Discussion, Coding, etc.
- Reading
- - Students: Students must read the required reading book according to their grade and write a book report. Reading award recipients are selected every month.
- - Parents: A required reading book for parents is selected and announced every month.
